K-12 Allergy Aware Schools in Illinois

Illinois

O'Fallon, Illinois
School:  New Enterprise Academy
School District:  Private School
What’s great about the school?
This school is peanut and tree nut-free. They do not allow any food products containing peanut or tree nut ingredients to be brought in lunches, for snacks or for special occasions. All children wash their hands before going to the lunchroom and use a wet wipe on their hands after lunch. The school is very open to working with any family with a food allergy and will try to accommodate any child’s needs if possible.

Oak Park, Illinois
School:  Holmes Elementary School & Brooks Middle School
School District:  District 97
What’s great about the school?
My son is now 13 years old and has had a great experience during his year in both schools. We had our allergists give in-service presentations in August to the faculties, and everyone was on board to keep him and the other allergic kids safe.
