Virginia Fairfax, Virginia | School: Merritt Academy | School District: Fairfax County | | What’s great about the school? | As a parent of a peanut allergic child it has been wonderful to have Merritt Academy – a school that takes food allergies seriously. Many of the teachers are MAT certified and all of the teachers we have had know how to administer the EpiPen. Additionally, the EpiPen travels with the class at all times (even on the playground).
Peanut Restrictions
Due to the life-threatening allergies of several of our
students, peanuts and peanut products are not
allowed in any of our classrooms, campus-wide,
or anywhere on campus. Our cafeteria food will
continue to be peanut/tree nut free. Please keep in mind that
although items may not have peanuts directly in
them, they could have been made or processed with
or near peanuts. Please check packages of food
before bringing those items in.
